of the XVIII International Festival-Contest
Children’s and Youth Creativity
«CONSTELLATION OF THE SEA – SUN, YOUTH, BEAUTY»

  1. The purpose and objectives of the festival-contest.
    The purpose of the competition is to further support and develop children's and youth creativity in the changing conditions of our time.
  2. The objectives of the competition are:
    • Identification and support of young talents;
    • Continuous improvement of professional skills of young artists and teachers;
    • Exchange of creative experience and achievements between project participants and establishment of creative network;
    • Introduction of educational content, support of modern tendencies of children's creativity.
  3. Terms of participation in the festival-competition.
    The festival-competition will take place in two rounds.
  4. CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE FESTIVAL-CONTEST
    Children creative groups and solo performers at 5 to 25 years take part in the following nominations and genres: vocal, choreography, original, instrumental and theatrical genres, including fine art-students and decorativeapplied art studios.
  5. NOMINATIONS & AGE CATEGORIES
    • VOCAL /academic, variety, folklore, song-theatre/
      1. Solo.
      2. Ensemble /duet, trio, quartet, etc./
      3. Chorus.

      1st age category – 5 – 9 years;
      2nd age category – 10 – 12 years;
      3d age category – 13 – 16 years;
      4th age category – 17 – 20 years;
      5th age category – 21 – 25 years.

      Assessment criteria:

      • Musical talent, artistic interpretation of the musical composition;
      • Clarity of the intonation and the quality of sound;
      • Distinctiveness of timbre and the potential of voice;
      • Musical talent, artistry, artistic interpretation of the musical composition;
      • Stage culture;
      • Complexity of the repertoire;
      • orrespondence of the repertoire to the performer’s age category, artistic skills;
      • Performance skills.

    • CHOREOGRAPHY /classical, ball, variety, folklore dance, styling folklore dance, modern, dance-theatre, show, variety sport dance/
      1. Solo.
      2. Ensemble /duet, trio, quartet, etc./

      1st age category – 5 – 9 years;
      2nd age category – 10 – 12 years;
      3d age category – 13 – 16 years;
      4th age category – 17 – 20 years;
      5th age category – 21 – 25 years.

      Assessment criteria:

      • Performance skills– the technique movements;
      • Compositional layout of the turn;
      • Correspondence of the repertoire to the performers age criteria;
      • Stage effectiveness (plastic movements, costume, properties, the culture of performance);
      • Selection and correspondence of musical and choreographic material;
      • Artistry, manner of interpretation of the artistic image.

    • FOLKLORE AND ETHNOGRAPHICAL STYLE /Folklore and ethnographical groups and soloists which represent numbers and programs, created on the basis of folklore, national (regional, local) customs and rites – vocal groups and soloists, song and dace companies, instrumental companies of performers, soloists and groups of performers of folk dance/

      Assessment criteria:

      • Quality of folklore material used (artistic value, ethnographic value);
      • Style accordance with performance, illustration, manner, attributes, costumes with national (regional, local) customs;
      • Quality of music and plastic national (regional and local) customs imaging;
      • Spectacular solution of program (number), vividness and originality of presentation, originality of portrayal form;
      • Accordance and culture of costumes, instruments and properties with program (number) theme;
      • Completeness and quality of requirements fulfillment, brought to the vocal, instrumental, choreographic styles and above noted.

    • ORIGINAL GENRE /plastic study, acrobatics, equilibrium, antipode, caoutchouc, jugglery, clownery etc./
      1. Solo.
      2. Ensemble

      No age categories.
      Circus collective is offered to present a circus composition.

      Assessment criteria:

      • Level of the circus preparation and performance skills;
      • Technical possibilities of the performers;
      • Artistry, theatrical effectiveness (plastic movements, costume, the culture of performing);
      • Artistic approach to the selection of the repertoire;
      • Complexity of the fulfillment of the program;
      • Artistic design of the program, properties.

    • INSTRUMENTAL GENRE /popular, symphonic, variety etc./
      1. Solo.
      2. Ensemble./

      1st age category – 5 – 8 years;
      2nd age category – 9 – 12 years;
      3d age category – 13 – 15 years;
      4th age category – 16 – 20 years;
      5th age category – 21 – 25 years.

      Assessment criteria:

      • Level of ability to use an instrument;
      • Clearness of the intonation and musical system;
      • Complexity of the repertoire and arrangement;
      • Technological possibilities of the ensemble execution;
      • Ability of the dynamic palette of the sound;
      • Musical talent, artistic ness, artistic interpretation of the musical composition;
      • Artistic individuality (for the soloists).

    • THEATRICAL GENRE /amateur groups of all trends of the theatrical art take part in the competition/
      1. Groups present for the competition variety entertainments, monoperformances, etudes, scenes from the performances or plays, which have finished composition.
      2. No age categories./

      Assessment criteria:

      • Absolute and expressive of exposure of the theme of work;
      • Revealing and vividness of the artistic images, mastery level;
      • Scene effectiveness (plastic movements, costume, the culture of fulfillment);
      • Decorative design of the performance, properties;
      • Actors’ articulation;
      • Correspondence of the repertoire to age peculiarities of performers.

    • FASHION THEATRE
      1. Each group presents for the contest a show collection, which should consist of one or combine several topics.
      2. No age categories./

      Assessment criteria:

      • Composition integrity, originality of director’s solution;
      • Style consistency (costume, hairstyle, choreography, musical illustration);
      • Additions and accessories;
      • Artistic solution complexity;
      • Quality and mastery;
      • Artistry of performance;
      • Dance elements and music selection;
      • Theme and group overall impression.

  6. JURY. EVALUATION

    Competitive performances of participants are evaluated by a professional jury. The jury is composed of leading cultural specialists and artists of Ukraine.

    The chairman of the jury is Zenovii Korinets – General & Artistic Director of the H. Veryovka Ukrainian National Honored Academic Folk Choir, professor of the Drahomanov National Pedagogical University, People's Artist of Ukraine.

    Participants' performances are evaluated on a 10-point scale in each nomination and age category according to the criteria. The decision of the jury is final and not subject to appeal.

  7. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
    1. Phonograms should be provided in following formats: MP3, WAVE, WMA on a digital media (flash drive), previously tested by antivirus software.
    2. The names of the tracks on the digital medium must coincide with the submitted applications (name of the group or surname of the performer, piece title, and its duration). The phonograms 10 days before the festival should be sent electronically to the organizers: gals_ods@ukr.net, galina.gals@ukr.net, borodalex@ukr.net
    3. It is impossible for the soloists to use phonogram «plus».
    4. It is prohibited to use phonograms in which back vocal part doubles the main part of a soloist.
    5. One mark point will be removed if performance lasts more than one minute. Phonogram stops consequently.
    6. Vocal collectives, with the total number of members exceeding four people, are permitted to utilize their own radio microphones or various “head” appliances just in case the latter are UHF (ultra-high frequency).
    7. For guitarists with acoustic guitars it is necessary to have a threemetre- long wire.
    8. It is prohibited to use synthesizer as auto accompaniment in instrumental genre.
    9. It is impossible to use personal microphone and illuminating apparatus during competition process.
  8. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    To participate in the competition, the following materials must be submitted to the organizing committee:

    Attention! The passport must be valid for another 90 days after the trip!

    When checking-in at a hotel, the team leader deposits to the organizing committee an insurance fund in the amount of 30 euros per person, which will be used in case of damage to hotel property. If there are no claims from the hotel, the amount is refunded in full.
    When applying for the festival, be sure to specify the cost.

    When applying for participation in the festival, the leader must provide a list of the team according to the following model:

  9. REWARDING OF PARTICIPANTS
    1. The results of the competition and awards are held in all nominations, taking into account the age categories of participants and providing for the title of Grand Prix winner, laureate of three prizes - Gold, Silver and Bronze Constellation and participants with diplomas. There are special diplomas for teachers and leaders, as well as certificates after attending workshops and seminars.
    2. Duplicate prizes (first two places, second, etc.) based on the results of the competition are allowed.
    3. Within the framework of the festival project "Constellations" special awards are given in the following nominations:
      • «Golden Lark» in memory of Maestro Anatoly Avdievsky
      • «Star popularity»
      • «Contours of the New World: Contemporary Art»
      • Classical Music Award«Classic Bravo»
    4. Traditionally, a competition for the Audience Choice Award is announced within the framework of the festival project “Constellation”.

      To participate, you should send a color photo in the same stage costume used in one of the performances along with an application form to the following e-mail address: galina.gals@ukr.net or gals_ods@ukr.net. The photo will be posted on our Facebook page.

      Spectators and followers of the festival-contest will be able to vote on our Facebook page (by liking).

      The winner of the Audience Choice Award in each of the competition nominations will be the participant of the festival-contest to whom the audience will give the largest number of votes.

  10. FESTIVAL PROGRAM
    • 1 day 01.06.2022 Wednesday

      Meeting of festival participants at the international airport of Odessa.
      12.35 - departure to the island of Corfu.
      14.35 - arrival in the capital of Corfu, Kerkira. Boarding comfortable buses, transfer to the seaport, ferry boarding, departure to Igoumenitsa. Arrival, boarding the bus, departure to Lefkada. Arrival, check-in at the hotel "Lefkas" (Petrou Filippa Papagou 2, Lefkada 311 00, Greece). Night lodging

    • 2 day 02.06.2022 Thursday

      07.00 - 09.00 - Breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
      08.00 - 13.00 - Conducting contests in the Lefkada Cultural Center. (Sikelianou 1, Lefkada, 31100, Grecee) in nominations:

      • choreography (classical, ballroom, pop, folk, modern).
      • theatrical genre

      09.00 - 14.00 - Competition in the music school of Lefkada (Philosopher Prospekt 11, Lefkada, 31100, Grecee) in nominations:

      • instrumental genre (classical, folk, pop).
      • vocal genre (academic)

      12.00 - 15.00 - lunch in the hotel restaurant.
      14.30 - 21.00 - Conducting competitions in the Lefkada Cultural Center (Sikelianou 1, Lefkada, 31100, Grecee) in nominations:

      • vocal genre (folk, pop, song theater).

      19.00 - 20.00 - dinner in the hotel restaurant.

    • 3 day 03.06.2022 Friday

      07.30 - 09.00 - Breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
      08.00 - meeting of the leaders with the directing group at the gala concert.
      09.00 - 12.00 - vacation at sea or a yacht trip off the island coast (the cost of the trip is 30 euros per person)
      12.00 - 14.00 - lunch in the hotel restaurant.
      13.00 - 17.00 - rehearsal of the gala concert.
      17.00 - awarding of winners, closing ceremony of the festival, gala concert.
      21.00 - dinner in the hotel restaurant.

    • 4 day 04.06.2022 Saturday

      07.30 - 09.00 - Breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
      09.00 - 12.00 - vacation at the sea or a walking tour in the center of Lefkada, where you can visit the ancient Orthodox churches of Lefkada, as well as devote time to buying souvenirs.
      13.00 - 14.00 - lunch in the hotel restaurant.
      15.00 - 18.00 - vacation at the sea.
      19.00 - dinner in the hotel restaurant.

    • 5 day 05.06.2022 Sunday

      07.00 - Breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
      08.00 - check-out, departure of festival participants to Corfu.
      11.30 - Arrival in Corfu. Sightseeing tour of the island of Corfu: the old town, the Old and New fortresses, the Church of St. Spyridon, Palaiokastritsa and the monastery of the thirteenth century, Lacones. (Cost: 30 euros per person).
      17.00 - arrival at the Corfu airport. Departure home.

  11. The cost of the trip is 420 euros.
    Flight tickets are paid additionally.
  12.  

    The service kit includes:

    • Transfers: Corfu - Igoumenitsa - Corfu sea ferry,
      Igoumenitsa - Lefkada - Igoumenitsa (comfortable bus);
    • Accommodation: 2-3-guests room;
    • Meals: 3 meals a day;
    • Festival participation fee;
    • Pedagogical support: 1 leader per group of 15 people;
    • Insurance.
